  1. Great Re-Telling of a Classic Story

Both of my kids loved this book as did I when they were younger. Many a trip in the car was spent listening to the audio. I love the fact that this is an accessible retelling of this story but it is not watered down. It is a great for introducing this complex story to a younger audience. The audio narration is also very well done and enjoyable for both children and adults.

  2. Great for older children
    Rating
    100%
My son practically grew up with this book After reading it many times both with me and alone, he began listening to the audio while he was working on Legos or trying to relax for bed. He was still listening to it well into his teens.

I am really impressed with the way it's written. A lot of abridged versions or "retellings" of the Odyssey are dull or dumbed down for kids. This one is lively and uses beautiful imagery. The illustrations are flat out gorgeous. I have given this as a gift to several young people, and always get profuse thanks. It really is for older kids, as there is a bit of violence (for instance the blinding of the cyclops), but that makes it true to the original storyline.
